Mrs. Ruth Zaipuna

Mrs. Ruth Zaipuna is a distinguished Tanzanian banker and corporate leader currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of NMB Bank Plc, one of Tanzania’s largest and most influential financial institutions. With over 20 years of experience in banking, audit, and finance, she began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where she specialised in auditing financial institutions before moving into senior banking roles, including Executive Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Standard Chartered Bank (East Africa). In 2018, she joined NMB Bank as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed CEO in August 2020, becoming the first Tanzanian to lead the top-tier lender.

Under her leadership, NMB Bank has achieved record financial performance, expanded digital services, and strengthened financial inclusion while earning national and continental recognition, including African Banking CEO of the Year (Tanzania) and the African Business Leadership Commendation Award for her transformative impact on banking.
