Tribute

Mpule Keneilwe Kwelagobe invests in Botswana and Africa's future through QuesS Capital LLC while championing HIV/AIDS prevention, showing her three children that beauty queens can also be queens of social change. Beyond her Miss Universe crown, we celebrate the bedtime tiaras of maternal attention, the platform used for advocacy, the home environment created for security, and the investor who considers her children her most significant long-term returns.

Profile

Mpule Keneilwe Kwelagobe is a distinguished investor, businesswoman, model, and beauty queen and a dedicated mother of three children. She co-founded QuesS Capital LLC, a private global investment firm focusing predominantly on Africa, alongside her husband. She also established the Mpule Kwelagobe Children’s Centre in Botswana, providing shelter, counselling, and medical attention to children affected and infected with HIV. In 1999, at the age of 19, Kwelagobe made history as the first black African woman to be crowned Miss Universe. In 2000, she was appointed as the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Youth and HIV/AIDS, using her platform to champion HIV/AIDS prevention. Throughout her career, Kwelagobe has been recognized as a human health rights activist, especially for her fight against HIV/AIDS and advocacy for youth and women’s rights. Kwelagobe currently sits on the board of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, a pan-African network of Centers of Excellence in Mathematical Sciences.
