Dr. Ethel Mupambwa

Dr. Ethel Chiwara Mupambwa is a Zimbabwean financial inclusion pioneer, entrepreneur, and founder of MoneyMart Finance Private Limited, a microfinance and digital finance institution she established in 2014 to help underserved individuals, women, and small businesses access tailored loans, financial services, and renewable energy financing solutions. Raised in rural Nembudziya in Gokwe, she was inspired by the financial exclusion she witnessed growing up to create innovative products that bridge the gap between formal finance and informal economic activity, impacting over 10,000 micro entrepreneurs with 70 percent of them women.

Dr. Mupambwa’s leadership has earned her multiple accolades, including recognition as a Women in Africa WIA laureate, being named among the top African Business Heroes, and winning Businesswoman of the Year awards in Zimbabwe. She also holds advanced qualifications in finance and digital financial practice and serves as a trustee for digital finance associations that promote inclusion across the sector. As an advocate for women’s economic empowerment, she continues to champion financial literacy, clean energy access, and wealth creation for families and communities across Zimbabwe.
