Summer break is over and I won’t lie to you, I am excited. I love having my kid around, but my summer is usually backed with work. So, it gets very frustrating to juxtapose both my want to be present with my kid and my work demands. But now, she gets to go back to school, learn from teachers and also have fun with her friends. I imagine that you can relate to what I am talking about.
And like me, you are deep in preparation or even in the first two weeks of resumption. I imagine that you have:
Put your kids on Multivitamins to boost their immune systems from infection that they might get in school.
Prayed over them as they begin another year of school.
Gotten back on a screen time routine. I mean, the holiday was a bit relaxed. Now, screen time is back to weekends only.
Loaded up on healthy food. And you must have drawn up afood time table. **We usually stop using this after the first month, but at least it’s there for whenever we remember/or just out of ideas.
Bought all the new things to replace that of the previous year.
What else did I miss?
Well, all of these things are good. However, I think you should add these ones as well;
Talk to their teachers about your observations of your kid(s) strengths and where you want them to help encourage. You were with your kids through the summer, so you must have observed a few things. Let your child’s teachers be aware so that they are informed of the areas to pay more attention to in your child.
Talk to your child about the new school year and how you expect them to represent the family. Every family has a value system (I hope). Remind your kid(s) to live those out in school and everywhere else they go.
Do not forget to declarewords of affirmations on them everyday. Teach them to also speak for themselves.
