Monica Katebe Musonda, a Zambian businesswoman, lawyer, and entrepreneur, made a bold career move by resigning from her lucrative position as a corporate attorney to establish and lead Java Foods Limited, a food-processing company based in Zambia, where she now serves as the chief executive officer.
Transitioning from her esteemed legal career, Monica ventured into entrepreneurship in 2012, founding Java Foods and embarking on a journey to revolutionize the food processing industry in Zambia. Under her leadership, Java Foods introduced its flagship product, eeZee Instant Noodles, which swiftly became one of the country’s leading brands.
Before delving into entrepreneurship, Monica held a comfortable position with the Nigerian manufacturing conglomerate, Dangote. It was during this tenure that she experienced her “aha moment” when her Nigerian boss highlighted the lack of economic activities in Zambia led by Zambians, prompting her to pursue entrepreneurship.
In addition to her role at Java Foods, Monica Musonda extends her expertise as a non-executive director on the boards of various companies in Zambia, contributing to the growth and development of the business landscape.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Monica cherishes her role as a mother, balancing her entrepreneurial pursuits with the joys and responsibilities of motherhood.
