Marufatu Abiola Bawuah

Marufatu Abiola Bawuah, a distinguished Ghanaian finance and business leader, made history in 2014 by becoming the first woman to hold the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at United Bank for Africa (UBA).Â

She has garnered numerous accolades for her outstanding contributions to the industry, including the 2016 Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana Marketing Woman of the Year award and the Finance Personality of the Year Award from the Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards.

Currently serving as the Regional Chief Executive Officer of UBA, Bawuah oversees operations in six countries: Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Her illustrious career path includes notable roles at institutions such as Standard Chartered Bank, CAL Bank, Strategic African Securities, and the law firm Bentsi-Enchil, Letsa and Ankomah.
