Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe

Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe is a distinguished businesswoman and philanthropist who embarked on her career in medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). After working in several public hospitals in South Africa and at the Medical College of Virginia in the United States, she co-founded the Motsepe Foundation in 1999 alongside her husband, Dr. Patrice Motsepe. In 2013, they became the first African couple to join The Giving Pledge, committing to philanthropic endeavors.

Beyond their impactful work in South Africa and across Africa, the Motsepe Foundation collaborates with renowned international organizations such as the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Milken Institute. Dr. Moloi-Motsepe’s visionary leadership also led to the establishment of African Fashion International (AFI) in 2007, aimed at unifying the fashion industry across the African continent for commercial sustainability.

Dr. Moloi-Motsepe holds an MBChB and a diploma in child health from Wits, as well as a diploma in women’s health from Stellenbosch University. She authored “The Precious Little Black Book,” a resource guide for women in South Africa, and initiated the Gender Responsive Budgeting Initiative South Africa.

Her professional affiliations include prestigious bodies such as the Harvard Kennedy School’s Women’s Leadership Board, the Centre for Public Leadership Council, and the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council. Additionally, she has contributed significantly to the Cancer Association of South Africa, serving as its past president.

As a devoted mother of three children, Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe continues to inspire positive change and empower communities through her multifaceted endeavors.
