Caroline A. Wanga serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ESSENCE, the premier media, technology, and commerce platform dedicated to empowering Black women and communities. Additionally, she holds the position of Chief Growth Officer for ESSENCE Ventures, the parent company of ESSENCE.
With an extensive career trajectory, Wanga transitioned to ESSENCE Ventures in 2020 from Target Corporation, where she excelled as the Chief Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer. Her tenure at Target began in supply chain roles, where she played pivotal roles in transforming supply chain, business intelligence, digital, and strategy functions.
Throughout her career, Wanga has demonstrated a commitment to both corporate and community leadership, holding roles in non-profit organizations and leveraging her expertise in youth development, grant writing, community organizing, and human resources. A self-described cultural architect, she is known for championing authenticity and fostering innovative environments.
