Profile
Dr. Phyllis Wakiaga is a distinguished Kenyan lawyer, corporate executive, and private-sector development expert renowned for her leadership in industry, public policy, and economic transformation across Africa. She served as Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) from 2015 to 2022, where she championed industrial policy, sustainability, and the growth of manufacturing as a critical sector for Kenya’s economy. Since leaving KAM, she has taken on a continental role as Senior Advisor and Global Lead for Industry and Commerce at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, working with governments and partners to design and implement strategies that foster inclusive industrial growth and strengthen public-private collaboration.
Dr. Wakiaga holds advanced degrees in law, international trade and investment, and business administration, and is currently completing a PhD in leadership and governance. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, sits on multiple corporate boards including as Independent Director for I&M Bank Kenya, and has chaired the United Nations Global Compact Network Kenya, growing it into one of Africa’s largest corporate sustainability networks.
