Bertina Engelbrecht is a mother of one and business leader, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Clicks Group Ltd., a leading health and beauty retail company. She assumed the role of CEO in January 2022, becoming the first woman to lead the company. Engelbrecht’s journey with Clicks began in 2006 when she joined as the Group Human Resources Director; her responsibilities were expanded in 2020 to include strategic stakeholder engagement. Prior to her tenure at Clicks, she held several notable positions, including General Manager for Shell SA Energy and Regional Human Resources Manager for Shell Oil Products Africa. She also served as Director of Organisational Effectiveness at Sea Harvest, managed her consultancy practice, and spent eight years with Transnet. Her extensive experience across various sectors has equipped her with a broad perspective on corporate leadership and strategy. Bertina’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Law (B Proc) and a Master of Laws (LLM), and she is an admitted attorney. Her legal expertise has been a valuable asset throughout her career, particularly in navigating complex corporate environments. As a trailblazer in her field, Engelbrecht continues to inspire through her dedication to excellence and her strategic vision for the future of retail in South Africa.
