Wendy Elizabeth Lucas-Bull

Wendy Elizabeth Lucas-Bull (formerly Adair), born in 1955, is a prominent South African businesswoman, banker, and corporate executive. She notably served as the chairperson of Absa Group, a leading pan-African financial services conglomerate, until her retirement on March 31, 2022.

Before assuming the role of chairman at Absa Group in 2013, Lucas-Bull held key positions within the financial sector. She served as an executive director at Rand Merchant Investment Holdings and later as the CEO of First Rand’s retail division.

Lucas-Bull is also recognized as one of the founding members and board directors of the Peotona Group. Her extensive leadership experience extends to various non-executive directorships, including roles at Barclays, Anglo American Platinum Limited, Development Bank of Southern Africa, and many others. Beyond her professional achievements, Lucas-Bull is a devoted mother of three adult sons and harbours a passion for ballet.
